A hitherto commonly used Philips UV-A lamp, the PL-L 18W/10/4P, has been designed for attracting insects, from which it has been used for electronic insect control systems. The Ferris lamp is equipped with a 2G11 socket and is 225mm long with a diameter of 39mm. This lamp is also suitable for use in the photo-polymerization and reprographic processes. It has a design life of 5000 hours. The extra protection is the Securay version without splinters designed to keep all the glass touch and the other components in place in case the glass is broken.
